The short version: Frond collects no data. Everything stays on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.
Overview
Frond ("the app") is a local-first houseplant care tracker for iOS and Android, developed by Valtom. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
Because Frond is designed to work entirely on your device, the short answer is: we do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on external servers.
Data we do not collect
Frond does not collect or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
- Your plant data, care logs, or schedules
- Photos you attach to your plants
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to us
- Location data
Local storage
All data created in the app, including your plant list, care schedules, care logs, and settings, is stored locally on your device using the device's built-in storage. This data does not leave your device unless you choose to export a backup.
Photos
If you add photos to your plants, those photos are stored locally on your device. They are never uploaded to any server. Photos are only accessed with your explicit permission when you choose to add or change them within the app.
Push notifications
Frond uses your device's local notification system to send care reminders. These notifications are scheduled on-device and do not involve any external server or notification service. Notification content never leaves your device.
Backup and restore
The app allows you to export a backup file containing your plant data. This file is created locally and shared using your device's standard share sheet. You decide where it goes, whether that is your files app, email, or a cloud storage service of your choosing. We do not receive or have access to this file.
Frond has no built-in cloud sync. There is no Frond server that your backup is sent to.
Purchases
The unlimited plants upgrade is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by us. We do not receive or store your payment details. Any purchase information is handled entirely by the respective platform's payment infrastructure and is subject to their privacy policies.
No analytics or third-party SDKs
Frond does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party data collection libraries. There is no Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar service embedded in the app.
Account requirement
No account, registration, or sign-in is required to use Frond. The app works fully offline without any network connection.
Children
Frond does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Since no data is collected at all, there are no special provisions required.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app's release notes.
